About Aunt Maggie

Convertibles came from Aunt Maggie's desire to pair tradition with function. The individual fingers give dexterity while the mitten flap can be closed for warmth.

July 30, 2021

After almost four years away, I have moved back to Woody Point, Newfoundland to continue my adventures in retirement. My excessively large collection of wool waiting to be knitted came with me. I remembered my husband at the last minute. Though I have decided not to reopen my home studio, I am in the same location and still whipping up warm gloves, mittens and sweaters.

I have made garments for people from all over the world, many of whom are repeat customers. I knit custom fit items at reasonable prices. I enjoy hearing new ideas for patterns and making them work. Mail orders are still welcome, including wholesale ordering. Large orders or orders needed for a specific date may not be possible, but feel free to contact me with any requests and I will do my best to answer.

Much of my work uses traditional patterns and techniques with my own variations for modern tastes. My specialty is a thrummed mitten pattern, where the wool is woven with larger, fluffier roving strands as an insulating layer.

For all my kind visitors over the years, I have been delighted to meet every one of you. To share a yarn, please see my contact information, newly updated since my return home.

Happily home again,

Maggie
